SPECTOR and GIRLS

There have been several beautiful songs written this year and these 2 are certainly among the best. "Never Fade Away" by Spector, whose lead singer Frederick Macpherson has been described as "Dalston's Cliff Richard" is the first song and "Vomit" by the California band Girls is the latter. The less i write about this the better.

Please Enjoy.

Freddie Mercury Birthday Auction

Freddie Mercury's FLASH birthday bash is set to be ‘a unique night of comedy and rock and roll’ as the climax to this year’s Freddie For A Day. The highlight of the night will be an auction to raise funds for the Mercury Phoenix Trust, the HIV AIDS charity set-up in his honour by band mates Brian May, Roger Taylor and Queen manager Jim Beach after the singer’s death in 1991.

The bespoke Lotus Evora S headlines the auction alongside fantastic donations from Brian May and Roger Taylor, Top Gear, Raymond Weil, the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the West End stage hit ‘WE WILL ROCK YOU’.

The pearl white "MADE IN HEAVEN" Evora S with Freddie Mercury inspired theme represents "a kind of magic" combination from the Lotus Design team: the power and prowess of the critically acclaimed Lotus with the dramatic styling befitting of a British rock legend. Featuring deep red and gold highlights this Evora S is well deserving of Freddie’s autograph which is also included in the scheme.

The exterior body language features a white, red and gold colour scheme inspired by the iconic costume Freddie wore for the 1986 “Magic tour” and features beautiful silver on white iconography. The front fender references the Montreux Freddie memorial statue with the line “Lover of life. Singer of songs” taken from the statue’s inscription.

Inside, the one-off yellow interior, also inspired by Freddie’s 1986 stage costume, includes a union flag on the back of the seats and the incorporation of a crown hints at Freddie’s playful royal role-play. And it goes without saying that the sound system or more specifically the radio, will send the lucky owner GA GA. Sorry.

Brian May had these words to say of Lotus’ participation: “Our friends at Lotus have donated a stunning Evora S for our auction which I know will be a massive fund-raiser for the Mercury Phoenix Trust. We cannot thank them enough for their generous support on what is a very special occasion for everyone who knew and loved Freddie.”

Group Lotus Director of Corporate Operations Gino Rosato said: “We were only too happy to contribute to this fantastic cause. We have created something very special to raise money for Mercury Phoenix Trust and we hope the car goes to a collector who really enjoys it.”

The Tommy Hilfiger Group, which is wholly owned by PVH Corp. [NYSE: PVH], is pleased to announce the November 24, 2011 opening of a European flagship store in London’s historic Knightsbridge, at 63-65 Brompton Road, SW3. The store, located amidst a mix of premium retailers in the heart of one of Europe’s most prestigious shopping areas, will be the brand’s third largest store in Europe.

“We are extremely pleased to open a flagship in this important city to showcase the complete world of Tommy Hilfiger,” said Fred Gehring, CEO of Tommy Hilfiger. “The opening in this impressive retail environment provides us with an additional opportunity to position the brand in the market. London is one of the world’s leading cities in retail and Brompton Road offers a unique blend of luxury and more accessible retail, making it the perfect location for our brand. Given the momentum of our business in the UK, this is a natural evolution to deliver on our goal to have a flagship store in all of the capital cities of Europe.”

“I am really excited to open our European flagship store on London’s prestigious Brompton Road,” said Tommy Hilfiger. “Since starting my brand in 1985, prep has been my main inspiration, and as the birthplace of preppy style, England is very close to my heart. London, rich in culture, history and art, is the perfect location for us to anchor our largest UK flagship store, and offer our customers the complete classic American cool Tommy Hilfiger lifestyle.”

As one of London's earliest established fashionable shopping locations, Brompton Road is internationally recognized as a destination for design, architecture and culture, dating back to the Great Exhibition of 1851, after which the impressive shopping streets that make up Knightsbridge were first built. Beyond the flagship’s late Victorian fa├žade, which originates from 1903, the store will reflect the brand’s signature classic, American, cool aesthetic.

Rhythm of Strings

Rhythm of Strings
Village Underground on 11th of September 2011

An exciting night of innovative music, where tradition meets technology, to create an original experience of classical performance and contemporary electronica.

Critically acclaimed experimental music programme Faster Than Sound (a collaboration between Lumin and Aldeburgh Music) presents the London premier of Rhythm of Strings with Seb Rochford, Leafcutter John, Leo Abrahams, Oliver Coates & Max Baillie at Village Underground on the 11/09/11 at 8 pm.

Taking place on 11th September at Village Underground in East London, the musicians created Rhythm of Strings during an intensive five-day residency at Aldeburgh Music’s new workspace facility space, The Hoffman Building. The performance is a conceptual exploration of the ‘Rhythm of Strings’ and blurs the boundaries between jazz and improvisation, classical and electronic music. This will be the London debut of the project that occurred earlier in March this year at Snape Maltings, home to Aldeburgh Music, where the event won over critics and audiences alike, with its thought provoking and innovative approach to exploring composition through performance and dialogue.
