2010 Venice Carnival Wins Most Outstanding Spectacle Award

The 2010 Venice Carnival received the prestigious award “Most Outstanding Spectacle” during the Gala Award Ceremony at the Special Event Awards 2011 held at the Phoenix Convention Center.

The Venice Carnival was once again widely recognized as the most sophisticated and famous carnival worldwide thanks to the Sensation format “ Sensation: 6 sensi per 6 sestrieri ” created by Marco Balich for Venezia Marketing & Eventi and produced by K-events in order to re-launch the Venetian event. The 2010 Venice Carnival drew over a million people and was the most crowded in the last 13 years.

The Carnival became an extraordinary multi sensorial experience thanks to a perfect combination of arts, music, magic and colors suspended in time and space.

In the year 2010 more than 340 shows were performed over the course of 11 days: street shows, installations, exhibitions, plus cultural and gastronomic initiatives. 270 accredited journalists attended, 96 of them being foreigners coming from 23 different countries.

Since 1986 the American award has recognized the finest work in special events worldwide. The 2011 Edition received nearly 300 entries in 34 categories from Australia, Bahrain, Canada, China, Denmark, Dominican Republic, England, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Spain, Thailand, Turkey and the United States of America.

Members of the Special Events Magazine Advisory Board, made up of leaders in the event profession, spent two days in October at the magazine’s offices in Pacific Palisades (Los Angeles), California, to select the 111 finalists.

Marco Balich President of K-events says “I am very proud that the 2010 Venice Carnival received an award as prestigious as the Special Event. I would like to thank Venezia Marketing & Eventi. They allowed me to work for such an incredible event as Artistic Director and they always believed in the Sensation format I created.”
